I'm in Makkah now

Choose the stage you are at. Three short steps, then the details if you need them.

1 Ihram and the talbiyah

  1. Make the intention for Umrah at the miqat: “Labbayka ‘umratan” (Here I am for Umrah).
  2. Begin the talbiyah and say it often until you start tawaf.
  3. Avoid the prohibitions of ihram until you leave it.
Details and evidence

2 Tawaf

  1. Begin at the Black Stone, with the Kaaba on your left.
  2. Seven circuits ending at the Black Stone. Do not walk through the Hijr.
  3. Pray for whatever you wish, and do not push anyone to kiss the Stone.
Details and evidence

3 Two rak‘ahs and Zamzam

  1. Pray two rak‘ahs behind the Station of Ibrahim if that is easy; otherwise anywhere in the mosque.
  2. Drink Zamzam and pray for what you love.
  3. Both are sunnah; leaving them does not invalidate the rite.
Details and evidence

4 Sa‘i

  1. Begin at Safa and finish at Marwah: going is one lap and coming back is another.
  2. On Safa and Marwah: face the qiblah, declare Allah's oneness and greatness, then make dua.
  3. Men walk quickly between the two green markers.
Details and evidence

5 Shaving or shortening

  1. Men shave, or shorten from all over the head; shaving is better.
  2. Women cut a fingertip's length from the ends of their hair.
  3. With this your Umrah is complete and you leave ihram. May Allah accept it from you.

If this happens…

I'm not sure how many circuits I've done

Go with the lower number: if you are unsure between five and six, count it as five and carry on.

The prayer started during tawaf or sa‘i

Pray with the congregation, then carry on from where you stopped, according to the stronger view of many scholars.

I lost my wudu during tawaf

The majority require purity for tawaf: make wudu, then ask a scholar whether to start again or continue. Purity is not required for sa‘i.

I'm tired and can't walk

Rest, then continue. Tawaf and sa‘i in a wheelchair are allowed for anyone who needs it.

I don't know any special duas

No specific dua for each circuit has been established. Pray for whatever you wish, in your own language if you like.

These are short, general answers. For your own situation, ask the scholars available in the Haram.
